Update on Baby

just wanted to update everyone on the progress of our baby boy. We have about 3 weeks left until the big day and man does it seem like forever! I went to my dr.s appointment today to hear the heartbeat and all that fun stuff that goes with those kind of appointments(hint hint) and I'm dialated to a 2!! I was shocked and excited to hear such good news. Hallie was 2 days past her due date and I was dialated to a 3 when I went into labor. So, I'm taking this as a good sign that he's progressing and maybe we'll see him sooner rather than later!?!

Anyway, my Dr. gave us the option of going early and being started anytime after the 18th, but I am against going early just for the fact that I hear labor is a lot longer. But the more Brett and I talk about it the more sense it makes to schedule it~ so here is our reasoning, and I want to know what everyone thinks: My official due date is the 24th which is a Monday so more than likely I'll go into labor while Brett is at work! I really don't want to be having contractions and having to deal with Hallie asking " Momma, whatcha doin?" every minute while I'm in the fetal position crying with pain! So, we want to schedule it for a Friday and hopefully have him that day or the next and then Brett can take the next three days off.
I do want to hear opinions about being started and if it really was all that bad? I would appreciate comments from anyone... Oh, I forgot to mention that we FINALLY decided on a name... Cole Andrew Hewlett. Those names are Brett's 2 brother's middle names and we couldn't have asked for better uncles for our family! Thanks for reading and we'll keep you all informed of our decision!

That is so exciting!! Annie obviously I have no idea but if I remember correctly Hallie was a pretty easy labor? If I were you I would for sure get started on the 18th that sounds like a great option!

I'm all for scheduling! I had it that way and it made it so nice to know when he was coming and have Adam right there with me. That Friday before your due date isn't too much earlier so I don't think it would be bad. Besides...it is definitely smart to maximize the time you will have with Brett off work and it would be nice to have the weekend and then a few days that next week. I think you should do it!!!

I would for sure schedule it. I was scheduled a week early with Taya because I had been dialated to a 3 for 5 weeks and 90% effaced. My Dr's (I saw 3 at the time due to the high risk) said as long as someone is progressed it doesn't make much of a difference, if any at all. Paige wasn't induced and her labor was very similar to mine anyway.

That is my 2 cents but what ever you do, I am sure it will go great!

I have heard being induced does take longer but since you are already dilated may make it quicker. I would schedule it but try to do all that you can for him to come naturally. Good Luck!!

My vote is scheduling - if you can! I was induced with Ashley (because I was dialating and effacing, but active labor wasn't kicking in) and everything went just fine. I think my labor was the normal 8 hours or something. Just think, if you can schedule it - you are more prepared for babysitting, time off work, etc...instead of rushing to the hospital because your water broke during sacrament meeting!! :) I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right choice though! Can't wait - we're so excited!!!

PS - I love the name! Andrew is one of our top boy names too~

PSS - Steve also says that once you hit 37 weeks, all the development of the baby is complete...or as he puts it, "They are done cooking - and after that, they only get bigger!!"

Keep that one in mind too... :)

How exciting!!!!!! I would love to come see him when he is born. I was induced with Jaxon because I had to be and there are good and bad things to being induced. Jax was 11 days early and I didn't feel like he was ready He spent a week in the NICU because he was choking all the time and couldn't keep his temp. I don't know if that had to do with him just not wanting to come but it is nice to know when the baby will come so you are all ready. GOOD LUCK!

Oh and my labor was 21 hours!

Annie, I was induced and I really had a great labor and delivery. No problem at all. My situation wasn't exactly the same, my water broke and after we got to the hospital I wasn't progressing much so they started me. I would be all for it, if not just for peace of mind! Good luck!

Hey cutie, of course my opinion is going to be different! but, then again i am about a Month late with each of my girls! I was dialated to a 7 and 85% effaced for about 3-4 weeks straight! NO KIDDING!

And, then finally they said i couldn't wait any longer, so they BROKE my water... And that was fine... Just because i don't like being started early, because i think they come when they come.

I also do it natural, and i don't like LONG labors... mine are about 4 hours or so! Nothing big!

So, i hear inducing is LONGER labor... BUT, i am no expert... I am soo far along when my water is Broken... Mine come soo quick!
SO, if hallie was quick, this one should be quick!

I really think that having a schedule is nice, and knowing when the baby is coming is sure nice... Never happened to me!

GOOD LUCK! my advice isn't soo great! i realize that!

LOVE YOU! i can't BELIEVE you are soo close!!!

GOOD LUCK!! Dialated to a 2! that is great news!

Love the name too!
