Our Cruise

I don't even know where to begin with this post. We started our vacation in Miami where we took a long but beautiful drive down to Key Largo to go snorkeling. We heard a lot of great things about Key Largo and the snorkeling experience so we wanted to see for ourselves. The water was beautiful, as you can see in the picture below( I didn't even touch it up), but the coral and the fish weren't something to be excited over. It was a cool experience though, but we were a little disappointed.

On Monday, we boarded the cruise ship and headed to Roatan Honduras. I really didn't know what to expect with Honduras but was shocked with how beautiful and lush everything was. We went into this cruise knowing we didn't book any excursions through the ship, and we were hoping to just go and barter with the locals and get a better deal. Our plan worked... we hopped into a taxi who took us to an amazing beach and we went snorkeling for $10! We loved snorkeling in Roatan, I think Brett could have done it all day if they let him, but me, I would rather say "hi" to the fish and go and lay out on the boat... and that's exactly what I did! It was one hundred times better than Key Largo AND our trip to Hawaii, that's how good the snorkeling was!

Our last stop was Cozumel Mexico. We were lucky to have great weather on both stops and I just can't get over how blue the water really is. We decided that since we didn't do too much in Honduras that we wanted to do something fun and exciting. We headed to Chankanaab resort and signed up to swim with the dolphins! It's been on our list of things to do... so here was our chance. We took a 10 minute course about dolphins and they told us exactly what we were going to be doing with them once we were in the water.

as soon as we stepped onto the platform the 2 dolphins(one male and one female) swam right in front of us so we could touch and pet them, then we got to play with them in the water for a few minutes as they swam and splashed us. They would come and lay in your arms so you could hold them like a baby( that's 400 pounds!), and if you waved your hands at them , they would do their cute dolphin talk, we also got to kiss their noses and then turn our cheek so they could kiss us back! The most amazing part was when one by one we got to swim out a few feet and the dolphins would swim out to get us and we would hold on to their fins as they swam back to the platform... and then we would swim out again, further this time, and they would put their noses under our feet and lift us out of the water and take us back to the platform again... this is called the Superman! Our playdate lasted an hour but the thing I really regret is not getting any pictures of it! It's something I will always remember and definetly the highlight of our trip.

The Food: I am going to do whole paragraph about the food. I'm going to be honest, I love cruises just for the fact that I know I'm going to eat good food, but as excited as I was about the cruise food, I was more excited about the food I was going to find in Honduras and Mexico! Brett and I are always looking for that perfect taco stand that sells the best street tacos. Luckily, my husband speaks spanish so we went looking for locals who could recommend the best taco stand. I can't look at these pictures without my mouth watering... they were so good.

We had the best time. It was fun to go with Brett's coworkers and have friends to hang out with and make new friends, like the Kammyers, but it was even better to hang out with Brett and just do our own thing. I forgot what it was like to just have the two of us again. Thanks Brett for the fun vacation... love  you!

a quick shout out to friends and family who watched our kids while we were gone. My mom, The Hewlett's, Aub, Kadie, Paula, Gma Rosser... we would have brought you back a souvenir, but we spent all our money on the ships casino! Darn you Quarter game and Wheel of Fortune. Love you all and a huge Thanks You!
