The wind storm...

Everyone knows that Davis County was hit with Hurricane like winds in early December. Luckily for us, the damage wasn't as bad as some in our ward and neighboring towns. We did however lose power for the whole day (7:30am - 9:30pm) and most of our fence. The only thing that made us really nervous was the great, big pine trees in our backyard. While we sat around listening to the wind, we heard a huge crack. One of the pine trees fell down towards our house, but luckily, it hit our fence first and then landed on our roof. We have a giant hole in the fence, but our roof had no damage.
We took a little adventure outside and I got to snap some pictures of some of the damage. Our neighbors to the south of us just parked his new RV on his property a few weeks before the storm and it was covered by pine trees after. It's still a giant mess.
Also, to keep the kids occupied, Brett helped them build a fort out of all the blankets and cushions in the living room. We read books, watched movies on the ipad and smoked/grilled a turkey for dinner.
It was amazing to me the generosity of people and cities who were willing to go out and help anyone they could. All of our men from our ward got everyone's yard cleaned up and hauled out. I am so grateful to live in a community/city where everyone helps everyone out.
